Architect will work on plans as Stanhope completes purchase

Architecture practice Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) has been appointed to work on plans for the overhaul of the iconic BBC television centre in west London.

AHMM’s appointment was revealed as developer Stanhope completed its £200m purchase of the site.

The 5.7ha site is set to be empty by 2015, with BBC staff moving either to the corporation’s central London location or Manchester.

AHMM will draw up plans for a creative hub and office, residential and hotel uses.

David Camp, chief executive of Stanhope, said: “We are looking forward to working with the BBC to deliver a vibrant, mixed-use scheme for the Television Centre site.

“We will preserve and enhance the much loved iconic buildings surrounding the forecourt for workspace, hotel and residential uses.”
