The drawings are an early concept for a pavillion in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to be built as part of a project by Atomik in partnership with Kazakh architects Bureau Address, celebrating the area’s historic architecture. Oades says: “The lack of funding for conservation has meant many of Almaty’s buildings are now rapidly aging and decaying. New development has seen the demise of Almaty’s Soviet-era architecture, which can be considered essential to the survival of the city’s cultural heritage, identity and future prosperity.”
