Contractor to upgrade and expand East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport upgrade to be built by Bam

Contractor Bam Construction has been appointed to build a £12m redevelopment of East Midlands Airport.

The project will entail construction of a security hall and queuing space increasing the terminal area by 1,375sqm. The firm will also remodel the retail area of the departure lounge.

The airport will continue to operate as the upgrades take place.

Tim McDermott, general manager at East Midlands Airport said: “It is incredibly important to the airport that we work with a team that understands our requirements and also the industry in which we work. Bam Construction has a proven track record and experience when redeveloping an airport and we are looking forward to working closely with the team throughout the build.”

Jon Kiteley, contracts manager at BAM, added: “It is an important success for us to win this work with East Midlands Airport, because it builds on the success of our Newcastle International Airport scheme.”
