Architect designed commercial and residential city segments

Architect Broadway Malyan has unveiled plans for part of a major new city in North Bangalore in India.

The city, developed by Bhartiya Urban, covers 125 acres and is designed to be entirely accessible by foot or bicycle. Broadway Malyan has designed the retail, schematic design, landscape and public realm for precincts two and three of the eight precincts.

The precincts comprise 460,000sqm of mixed-use development over basement parking with six office towers, three hotels, a convention centre, shopping centre, cinema, a square for public performances and a park.

It has also designed the residential concept for precinct one of the city, which will have 2,400 residential units.

Stuart Rough, chairman of Broadway Malyan, said: “This project launch is a major chapter for our practice in India, where we opened a permanent office in 2011, and it is testament to our integrated and world-class team of diverse design experts working in close partnership with our visionary client, across a wide range of sector disciplines, to create an inspirational place that will improve the quality of life for many.”
