Proposed development would include two 50-storey towers, with 510 homes and 163,945ft2 of offices

CLS Holdings has lodged a detailed planning application for a £400m mixed-use development in Vauxhall, south London.

A stock market announcement from the firm confirmed that proposals for the 1.658 million ft2 scheme had been lodged after a series of stakeholder consultations.

The Vauxhall Square scheme will be built on three acres at the Cap Gemini site between Wandsworth Road and Bondway, close to Vauxhall’s transport exchange. If planning consent is granted, work will start on site in 2014, with phases due to complete from 2017 onwards.

GL Hearn acted as planning consultant and Allies & Morrison was the architect on the scheme.

The project will comprise two 50-storey towers containing 510 homes and 163,945ft2 of offices, as well as 37,660ft2 of shops, restaurants and cafés.

There will also be 416 student units, a 438-bed hotel, a four-screen cinema, 94 affordable homes, and a hostel for the homeless.

A major public square and other public realm improvements will follow.

Vauxhall Square is at the heart of the Vauxhall Nine Elms regeneration area between the Vauxhall transport links and the proposed US Embassy.

Richard Tice, chief executive officer of CLS Holdings, said: “This substantial mixed-use scheme is a key element to the Vauxhall Nine Elms regeneration plans. It will create a new vibrant heart for Vauxhall and over 1,000 additional full-time jobs across a broad range of skills, both during and after construction.

“The investment of over £400m will bring substantial benefits to a wide range of stakeholders and is not dependent on the Northern Line extension.”
