Wins with University of Warwick and Great Ormond Street Hospital help make up £491m contract haul
Balfour Beatty reclaimed top spot in the contractors’ league table for May, after amassing 115 projects worth a combined £491m.
The biggest contract wins for the firm came on the University of Warwick’s National Automotive Innovation Campus. Both Balfour Beatty’s contracting and M&E divisions won contracts on the scheme worth a combined £81m.
Other contracts won by Balfour included a £34.9m hangar at RAF Brize Norton and Neptune Development Limited’s £33.5m Baltic Triangle residential development in Liverpool.
Bowmer & Kirkland moved into second place with 12 contract wins over the month worth £168m, including the £95m Waterside Campus development for the University of Northampton and an £18.9m mixed-use development in County Durham for Peveril Securities.
Kier dropped into third place for May with 40 projects worth a combined £142m.
Education contract wins helped Willmott Dixon move into fourth place with a total of 32 contract wins totalling £121m. These included a £25.4m academic building for the University of Kent and the £18.4m Heron Hall academy in Enfield for Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust. The group also won a £19.36m office development at 70 Wilson Street, London, for Stanhope.
Morgan Sindall remained in the top 10 for a second month with 30 contract wins valued at £118m, putting them in fifth place. The wins included the £20.9m new build at Neston high School, Neston for PSBP NW Projects Co Limited.
May saw a slight growth in the value of the contracts awarded to the top 10 firms compared with April, with the contractors winning £1.5bn worth of work.
