Charter 284 toolkit

Send our campaign letter to your MP

With the coalition’s emergency budget announcement on the 22nd of June about to herald another swing of the axe it’s more urgent than ever that politicians heed the message of our Charter 284 campaign urging continued spending on key areas of construction.

That’s why this week we’re asking you to take action, by writing to your local MP. We’ve made it easy by preparing the letter for you – all you have to do is download it and add your details to it. Click on the tool kit to download the letter. You can also download a list of supporters, the campaign logo.

A reminder of the aims of Charter 284:

Charter 284 is pushing for continued spending on key areas of construction for the good of the UK’s economy, since every pound spent on construction produces £2.84 of GDP, according to an independent report by economists LEK. We are calling for:

  • Complete the renewal of the school estate
  • Don’t let spending on transport infrastructure fall more than below 10% of current levels
  • Reduce the regulatory burden on the housing sector to encourage more development
  • Give householders incentives to green existing homes
  • Prioritise the development of renewable and nuclear energy through incentives for private sector investment.
