Low-carbon heating solutions

SPONSORED WEBINAR
Date: 19 November 2009
Time: 11:00AM GMT
Format: Live Video Webinar
Featured Speakers: Guy Hundy (Director, Aleph Zero; Immediate Past - President of the Institute of Refrigeration); Phil Marris (Managing Director, Jaga Heating Products (UK) Limited); Professor Tim Dwyer - Chairperson (Dept of Engineering Systems, London South Bank University)

Overview: Heat pumps are being used in more and more buildings. This phenomenal increase in applications can be explained by the simple reason that heat pumps supply more energy than they consume. They do this by extracting heat from their surroundings such as rivers, the ground the outside air and use this to heat a building. Some units can also be used to provide cooling. And, as a low carbon technology, heat pumps can help to significantly reduce a building’s carbon dioxide emissions.

Heat pumps are effective solutions to heating and cooling applications for all types of buildings, domestic, commercial and retail premises. To help designers understand how to get the best out of this unique technology Building and BSD magazines have put together a webinar designed to provide both technical advice and inspiration in an interactive format with topical debate from some of the industry’s key figures. Tim Dwyer, professor at London’s South Bank University, will chair the hour-long session and registered users will also be able to quiz the panel of experts during an interactive discussion session at the end of the webinar.

Efficient project delivery: how Building Information Modelling can help

BUILDING WEBINAR
Date: 17 June 2009
Time: 12:00 GMT
Duration: Approximately one hour
Featured Speakers: Pete Baxter (Autodesk Senior Director, Northern Europe), David King (technical director, HOK), Malcolm Stagg (BIM Project Manager, SKANSKA UK), Stephen Kennett (Building magazine)

Overview: Building Information Modelling (BIM) famously shaved 210million off the project costs at T5. The concept is simple, everyone on the project team shares a common 3D CAD model to design, build and, ultimately, run the building. This means that each team doesnt have to draw its own building and because everyone is working from the same set of data errors are reduced and clashes can be detected. But its not just mega-projects that can benefit from its use.
This webinar will explore the scope for using BIM on everyday projects, the extent it can be used by the supply chain and how best to exploit it.
