Contractor has confirmed it is preferred bidder onrevamp of secure hospital

Contractor Kier has confirmed it is preferred bidder to build the £115m replacement for the Broadmoor high security mental health unit.

As Building revealed earlier this month, Kier was chosen by the client, the West London Mental Health Trust, to build the facility in Crowthorne, Berkshire.

The job will involve construction of a new hospital, containing 162 mental health beds, to replace existing outdated facilities.

Work on the hospital is expected to start late in 2013 and Kier is expected to ensure that phase 1 will be ready to accept patients by January 2017.
