Strategic outsourcing and energy-services firm creates £240m Built Environment unit

Mitie has announced the merger of its interior fit-out and engineering-services businesses to create a new £240m end-to-end service.

The strategic outsourcing and energy-services firm said its new business would be called Built Environment.

It said the unit would provide clients with a complete end-to-end integrated fit-out offer, that included consultancy, accountable project-management, installation and energy services - as well as the ability to manage the building after its completion.

Built Environment managing director Danny Leonard said the completely integrated service would mean Mitie could offer clients guaranteed cost savings and the operational accountability of having to deal with only one company.

“At a time when estates managers are looking to save money, while at the same time comply with an array of new carbon legislation, this kind of full service approach is exactly what the market is looking for,” he said.

Mitie said it would continue to offer stand-alone interior fit out and mechanical and electrical engineering services.
