Upgrade design contracts worth more than £25m to the consultant

Aecom has secured five major road design contracts with Highways England, worth more than £25m to the consultant in fees.

The deals all relate to maintenance, improvement works and upgrades to motorways and A roads in England.

Among the contracts is a multi-disciplinary design role on A38 junction improvements around Derby, enhancements on the A47 in East Anglia and further highways design work om East Anglia and the East of England.

The final two deals are for upgrading sections of the M62 and M6 to become smart motorways, working with sub-consultant Mouchel.

Aecom will deliver a range of services on the schemes, including highway, structural and geotechnical engineering, environmental and planning consultancy services including public consultation, traffic and economic forecasting and traffic technology services.

Dave Beddell, highways director for Europe at Aecom, said: “These latest contract wins highlight the breadth and capacity of the multidisciplinary services Aecom is able to bring to vital highway maintenance and improvement programmes.

“With the majority of work delivered from offices local to the project locations, our teams will work collaboratively with Highways England and our supply chain partners to provide long-term benefits for road users across the country.”
