The firm has signed a pre-construction services agreement with Chinese developer Greenland Group

Chinese developer Greenland Group has confirmed Aecom as construction partner on its £800m Docklands skyscraper.

The tower designed by Larry Malcic and Christopher Colosimo from HOK and interior designer Nicola Fontanella of Argent Design will on completion house 861 apartments of which 765 are for private sale.

The building will also feature a residents’ garden, along with a private members’ club incorporating a health club, gym, spa and swimming pool.

Residents will also be provided with a private library, cinema, bar and dining club.

Enabling works on the 67-storey Spire London are being carried out by Bachy Soletanche and are due to complete by November with the main build and work on the basement expected to begin by the end of the year.

The skyscraper is due to complete in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Wenhao Qian, managing director of Greenland (UK) Investments Ltd, said: “Spire London is set to become one of London’s iconic, landmark buildings, and it is vital that we have the right team in place that can deliver a project of this scale.

“Aecom has been a trusted partner for Greenland on our extensive portfolio, and we are delighted to have awarded them the pre-construction services agreement for the main construction works.”

Dan McQuade, Group President of AECOM Construction Services, said: “We are very excited to work with Greenland on this iconic project in the heart of London’s Docklands. It will be our fifth project working together across the globe, and we look forward to further strengthening our relationship and helping Greenland to bring their vision to life”.

The news follows Aecom’s fledging UK construction arm bagging the job to build up to 3,000 new modular homes at the £3.5bn redevelopment of Silvertown by London City Airport last month.
