Aecom has appointed its first head of architecutre in London, after recruiting former Austin-Smith Lord partner Jennifer Dixon to lead its architecture division in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Dixon will lead a team of around 200 staff and report to David Glover, Aecom’s chief executive of building engineering.

An Aecom spokesperson told Building’s sister title Building Design that the move was intended to cement its relationships with the architects it already works with as well as looking at working with new firms.

The spokesperson added: “We want to keep on building our relationships with key practices as well as identify other practices we’d like to work with.”

Dixon left Austin-Smith Lord last March. She joined Aecom on 1 October 2013.

Dixon said: One of the things that attracted me to AECOM was its collaborative platform, dedicated to providing constructive leadership through which the design element of a project is championed in optimum balance with the programme and cost parameters - and selecting the best consultants and designers for the project. I enjoy supporting clients to drive these attributes ‘top down’ into their projects, and supporting design teams to respond with confidence.”
