Design concept for the UK pavilion

Aecom has been appointed project manager,cost manager and health and safety adviser on the UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015.

The consultant will work with the winner of eight shortlisted creative teams - revealed last month - which include Amanda Levete, Asif Khan and David Kohn. The other entries are from AHMM, Wilkinson Eyre, Paul Cocksedge and Universal Design Studio.

The teams presented their ideas and concept designs to the competition jury on 1 May, and a winner will be announced later this month.

The chosen pavilion will showcase the UK’s contribution in research, innovation and entrepreneurship. The UK theme is “Grown in Britain: Shared Globally”. The six-month Expo is expected to attract 20 million visitors. Aecom director Martyn Evans said: “The Milan Expo will allow us to demonstratethe creativity, expertise and delivery of our UK team.

“We look forward to lending our expertise to this dynamic project.”

The winning design will be chosen by a panel including Roddy Langmuir of Cullinan Studio, Moira Gemmill, director of design and FuturePlan at the V&A, chef Tom Aikens, filmmaker David Puttnam and former Design Council chief executive Andrew Summers.
