A second platform and footbridge open at Stratford, doubling capacity on the Docklands Light Railway

Will Alsop’s DLR station at Stratford saw its second phase opened this weekend.

The first platform has been open since June, but a second platform and footbridge opened for passengers on Saturday.

The station is the first completed project in the renewal of Stratford’s transport network ahead of the 2012 Olympics and Crossrail.

It will allow DLR trains to run to and from Stratford alongside each other, doubling the capacity of the line.

Architect and lead consultant on the project was SMC Alsop. Atkins provided engineering concept design and Mott MacDonald services engineering concept design.

The design and build contractor was Hochtief.
