Move sees return of historic brand at M&E business

Balfour Beatty has renamed its M&E business Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick after merging its engineering services and engineering construction businesses.

The move marks the return of the Kilpatrick name after it was ditched – along with the Haden Young marque – back in 2009 to form Balfour Beatty engineering services.

The firm will be headed by managing director Simon Lafferty who will report to Balfour Beatty’s UK construction services boss Dean Banks.

The business will have a turnover of around £300m and employ 2,200 people.

Lafferty said: “Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick will be one of the largest organisations of its type in the UK, offering a range of services and capabilities unique in the mechanical and electrical market.”

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick’s capabilities will span the nuclear, power, infrastructure, process and defence, transport, healthcare, education, residential and commercial sectors
