High rise mixed-use Woking Square project also involves Pick Everard
Plans for a £150m mixed-use scheme in Woking in Surrey by architects Benoy and Pick Everard have been submitted for approval.
The high rise Victoria Square scheme is by BSDL, a joint venture between developer Moyallen, Surrey county council and Woking borough council.
It takes the form of two separate planning applications for the western side of Woking town centre.
The main scheme, by Benoy, includes 10,967 sq m of retail floorspace anchored by a Marks & Spencer, a 190-bed hotel in a 21 storey tower, almost 400 homes in two towers of 28 and 34 storeys, a medical centre, car parking and two public plazas.
The second component, designed by Pick Everard, is a new fire station with homes above to replace an existing fire station.
John Kingsbury, Woking borough council leader, said: “With up to 730 jobs being created, Victoria Square will provide an exciting new quarter for Woking, anchored by Marks and Spencer, which is making a welcome return to the town.”
David Hodge, Surrey county council leader, added: “Our new fire station proposals are important for Woking.
“It will give our crews state-of-the-art facilities and then free up the old site for a regeneration that will grow Surrey’s economy and create hundreds of local jobs.”
