Brookfield Mulitplex has won the £275m contruction contract for a new shopping centre in Abu Dhabi

Brookfield Multiplex has been appointed the main contractor on the $1bn (£647m) Al Maryah Central shopping centre development in Abu Dhabi.

The $425m (£275m) construction contract will see Brookfield Multiplex construct the 2.3 million sq ft mall for Gulf Related, a joint venture between asset manager Gulf Capital and real estate firm Related Companies.

The development, due for completion in March 2018, will feature 400 retail stores anchored by Bloomingdales and the first Macy’s outside of the US, as well as145 restaurants and cafés, a 20-screen cinema complex and three rooftop parks. 

Subsequent phases of the development will include residential units as well as a hotel in two 400,000 sq ft high rise towers.
