Carillion Health Solutions JV will build and finance the city's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health

Carillion has won a £157m private partnership project to build a mental health centre in Toronto, Canada.

The Carillion Heath Solutions joint venture will design, build, finance and maintain Phase 1b of the Toronto Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

The project includes the demolition of an existing building and the construction of three new structures.

Work will start early next year and the centre is due for completion in 2012.

The project will be delivered using an alternative financing and procurement (AFP) model, the Canadian equivalent of a public private partnership.

Chief executive John McDonough said: "We are delighted to have achieved financial close on this major project, which further reinforces our leading position in the PPP market in Canada, particularly in the health sector, where we have established a very strong track record.”
