Services provided by the trio will include capacity assessments and layout planning

Gatwick has awarded its airport planning services framework to Arup, Atkins and Jacobs, who will work with the airport on a £2.5bn revamp of its infrastructure and facilities.

Services provided by the trio throughout the five-year framework will include capacity assessments, layout planning, and simulation modelling.

Noting the issues surrounding securing a second runway at the airport, as well as pressures on its existing infrastructure, Gatwick’s newly appointed chief planning officer Tim Norwood said the award of the framework sent a clear message it was committed to continued growth.

“We will always look for clever ways to improve passenger processes while being focussed on what people want, and it’s important to work with specialists in this field to understand some of the critical flows of the airport,” he added.

Last month saw the busiest April in the airport’s history, Gatwick said, with 3.5m passengers passing through its terminals, up 15% year-on-year.
