Costain has been appointed to its 11th Crossrail job – a £30m contract to build a new intersection between Crossrail tunnels and the Great Western railway.

The Paddington New Yard scheme includes the construction of a ‘bus parking deck’ to allow space for Crossrail trains to diverge from the Great Western line, as well as preparatory work for the installation of new rail track and systems for new sidings.

Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: “Costain was selected because of our ability to deliver value as a long-standing partner, which we believe is firmly in keeping with ‘Engineering Tomorrow’: our commitment to generating and delivering innovative, value-driven solutions to meet major national needs.”

Work will commence immediately and is expected to complete in December 2015.
