Palace of Westminster to invite firms to tender for advisory service contracts in December

Advisory service contracts for the £6bn restoration and renewal programme for the Palace of Westminster will go to tender on 16 December 2015, with bids to be returned by 17 February 2016.

A spokesperson confirmed the invitation to tender following the expiration of the pre-qualification phase last week. Firms will be shortlisted by the 8 December.

The spokesperson added that they expected to award contracts at the end of June 2016 subject to Parliament’s joint committee approving the overall works.

The joint committee is currently reviewing and reporting on the Independent Options Appraisal from Aecom, Deloitte Real Estate and HOK and a “decision in principle” will be reached by members of both Houses of Parliament in spring 2016.

The client advisory services contracts - worth £29m and slated to begin on 29 June 2016 and conclude on 28 September 2023 - are split into two lots - lot 1 is for an architect-led design team to provide client advisory design, lot 2 is for a team to provide client advisory programme, project and cost management.
