Energy and climate change minister Ed Davey and the leader of the Green Party Natalie Bennett have been confirmed among the speakers at March’s Ecobuild event.

Davey will be the event’s keynote speaker.

Also confirmed for the event is former deputy prime minister Lord John Prescott, former government communications director Alistair Campbell, RIBA Stirling Prize-winning architect Steve Tompkins of Haworth Tompkins, former chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority Sir John Armitt and Lord Deben, chairman of the Committee on Climate Change

This year’s programme will include sessions scrutinising the impact of the May election, with political debates on the potential impact on sustainability legislation if the UK pulls out of Europe, developing UK energy policy compatible with emissions reductions targets and the need for long-term planning to tackle climate change impacts such as flooding.

Building will host three debates including a discussion on the Agenda 15 campaign, and strategies to re-energise retrofit. Building’s sister publication BD will host debates on the sustainability of tall towers and housing design quality.
