Firm appointed to Historic Scotland’s Engine Shed project
Esh Border Construction has won a contract to convert a former railway building in Stirling into a centre for conservation body Historic Scotland.
The £8.9m Engine Shed project in Forthside will create a central “knowledge hub”, bringing together technical outreach staff, education and conservation science specialists, and digital documentation staff. It will also host exhibitions and other events.
Esh Border director John Moore said the Engine Shed was an “exciting project” with a “massive emphasis” on economic and regeneration objectives.
“We have no doubt that the centre will excel as an inspiring place of learning for local residents and visitors, that will serve to celebrate and preserve Scotland’s rich built heritage, and we are very proud to be part of it,” he said.
The project’s construction phase is due to be complete by summer 2016.
