Doug Oakervee will take ambassadorial role at contractor’s Pacific Rim division

Former Crossrail chair Doug Oakervee is to head up business development for Laing O’Rourke’s in the Pacific Rim.

Sources confirmed reports Oakervee would join on 1 September in an ambassadorial role predominantly concentrating on Hong Kong and the surrounding Chinese provinces.

The reports say he will also assist clients in planning, development, construction and management of schemes.

Oakervee left Crossrail in March, with Rob Holden confirmed as successor shortly afterwards. Oakervee is no stranger to the region, having previously overseen the construction of the new Hong Kong airport, and was elected as the 139th president of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2003.
