Housebuilder forms joint venture to build the high-rise ‘Manhattan style’ scheme

Galliard Homes, in joint venture with Cain Hoy and Frogmore, has unveiled plans for a £550m high-rise ‘Manhattan style’ resi scheme in Canary Wharf, London.

Called Harbour Central, it will provide 901 apartments, 277 of which will be affordable rental homes, in five mixed-use towers reaching up to 41 storeys high and designed around two public garden squares called Millharbour Park.

It will also provide 10,538 sq ft of ground floor retail and commercial space, and an 11,292 sq ft six storey “New York style” entertainment and leisure facility which includes a lounge and library, gym, spa, cinema, bar and lounge.

Construction has already started on the scheme and is due to be completed by late 2018/2019.

Harbour Central was designed by architects Rolfe Judd, while the towers’ interior design was drawn up by Argent Design.

The development is the first phase of the wider Millharbour Village project to receive planning consent, with homes in the tallest 41-storey tower, called Maine Tower, going on sale this Thursday.

Stephen Conway, chairman and chief executive of Galliard Homes, said the regeneration of Millharbour and the forthcoming local Crossrail station will mean “homes in the locality will benefit from capital value uplift and sustained sales demand from rental investors and end users.”
