Jaguar Land Rover to submit planning application for large extension of facilities in West Midlands.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is to submit a planning application next month for a new building at its i54 site on the border of Staffordshire and Wolverhampton.
Around 500 construction jobs will be created by the project, with levelling of the site expected to start in June.
Construction could start as soon as October on the 900,000 sq ft single-storey, L-shaped building, and is expected to take around 18 months to complete.
Matthew Goer, from Associated Architects, said the design of the building would largely follow that of the existing factory, drawn up by Arup. The roof will also be fitted with solar panels.
The purpose of the new factory is unlikely to be revealed until construction begins, according to JLR spokesperson Sarah McCarthy.
