The final business case for the £480m redevelopment of Royal Sussex County Hospital project in Brighton by Laing O’Rourke has been approved by the Treasury.

The scheme was orginally budgeted for £420m, but was allocated an extra £60m by the Department of Health (DoH) in February due to inflationary pressures.

The Treasury has now agreed to provide the extra funds and has signed off the revised business case.

Work on the main hospital building is expected to start in early 2016.
