The consultancy arm, which was launched in September 2012, will advise clients in New Zealand and Australia on asset management and organisational change.

Network Rail Consulting’s Australia and New Zealand office was opened in November last year and is headed by former Aecom rail director Peter Koning.

To bolster the office it has appointed Philip Chalk as director of asset management and maintenance. Chalk has previously worked for Network Rail as an asset management advisor in the UK and has also worked in New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.

Chalk said he was “looking forward” to helping take Network Rail Consulting into an “ambitious period of growth”.

He added: “Network Rail has a well-established asset management team in the UK and my aim will be to extend the breadth and depth of the services that we offer our clients in Australasia.”
