Shortlist places increased because of the quality of submissions

Six architects have been shortlisted to design the RIBA’s new headquarters in London.

The firms are competing to design the RIBA’s administrative head quarters at 76 Portland Place, just down the road from the current headquarters at 66 Portland Place.

The shortlist consists of:

  • Moxon Architects
  • Ben Adams Architects
  • Piercy & Company London
  • ShedKM
  • Spacelab
  • Theis and Khan Architects

RIBA has said it wants the design to be “exemplary” in terms of sustainability.

RIBA president Stephen Hodder said he was “delighted” with the volume of interest in the scheme.

He added: “The quality of the 32 submissions and the range of practices who have expressed their interest in working on the project is very impressive. The field was so strong, the selection panel decided to increase the number of shortlisted teams, from five to six.”

The teams will present their designs to a selection panel later this month.
