Lendlease has been named preferred contractor for first of five office buildings at Ruskin Square in Croydon

Lendlease has been named as the preferred contractor for a £40m scheme at Ruskin Square, Croydon.

The contract is for the first of five office buildings and work has already commenced on 200,000 sq ft of office and retail space on the ground floor with completion expected in autumn 2016.

Adjacent to East Croydon Station Ruskin Square is a £500m development by Schroder UK Real Estate Fund and Stanhope to create a business, residential and leisure quarter.

Neil Martin, managing director, construction at Lendlease, said: “We are looking forward to working with Stanhope and Schroders on this pivotal development in a part of South London that is set to undergo a remarkable transformation over the next few years.”

JLL and Savills have been appointed to let Ruskin Square’s commercial and retail space and James Lass, fund manager, Schroder UK Real Estate Fund, said they are “already engaged in detailed discussions with prospective tenants”
