Car maker will occupy ground three floors and invest £10m into project

Linden Homes, Galliford Try’s housebuilding division, is investing £90m in the redevelopment of a prominent part of Battersea that will deliver a mixed-use housing and commercial scheme and new jobs to the area.

The project, which will comprise a collection of new one, two and three-bedroom apartments at 98 York Road, will see an additional £10m invested by a Battersea-based VW franchise for a new showroom located under the flats.

Known as the Podium, the development will feature a basement car park, providing 87 spaces for residents’ vehicles, plus 200 cycle parking spaces on the ground floor.

Claire Gibbins, sales and marketing director at Linden Homes South East, said: “We are delighted to be investing in Battersea with our collection of new homes. Battersea is undergoing a huge transformation and is going to be a great place to live.

“We are anticipating demand to be very high, so we would urge anyone interested in the development to register their interest on our website to be the first to find out when they are available.”

Linden Homes said it would provide Lookers Volkswagen Battersea with a new building for its £10m showroom, which will occupy the ground three floors of the 20-storey building and will create around 90 new jobs.

In addition to the new homes and showroom, further investment has been committed to the area by Linden Homes as part of its Section 106 contributions. The funds will be used by Wandsworth Council to create a cycle docking station and a new bus shelter on York Road.
