London mayor Boris Johnson has unveiled plans for the Olympic park after the 2012 Games.
As revealed by Building last week, a secondary school will be housed in the stadium as part of a plan that will include the construction of 10,000 homes in the area.
A statement said: “Provision of an educational offer matching the best in London includes three new primary schools, a secondary school and a sports academy in the Olympic stadium. These are complemented with a new arts academy and primary school in the Olympic village.”
The stadium will in addition house the National Skills Academy for sports and leisure industries, as well as a centre for the English Institute of Sport.
Plans also include a business hub around the media centre in Hackney, which will be the site of an Olympic university too.
Other venues, including the aquatics centre and velodrome, will be used for community and elite sporting use and for staging major events.
The plans are open to public consultation over the next six weeks.
Johnson said: “I believe that the future for this most deprived area is spectacularly bright. Today, after many months of hard work, I am delighted to be able to present that clear vision. It shows how we plan to use the investment in new transport, new infrastructure and new world-class facilities as the backbone of a fantastic new place to live, raise a family, do business, study, work and visit.”
