Keep up to dateDeveloper and contractor will redevelop city’s 1960s Newgate shopping centre
McAleer & Rushe has been awarded planning permission to redevelop Newcastle’s 1960s Newgate shopping centre into a £100m mixed-use scheme.
The developer and contractor will demolish the centre to make way for 575-bed student accommodation, a 269-bedroom hotel and 20,000 sq ft of ground floor retail and leisure space.
Unite will run the student accommodation.
