Survey indicates Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi will be at forefront of upturn

The Gulf’s construction sector will start recovering in mid 2010, a new report has found. The survey by Norton Rose Middle East found that the Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi would lead the recovery. In terms of types of projects, infrastructure schemes would pick up fastest. The survey also found an expectation that that PPP projects would increase in the GCC countries.

Norton Rose said that 71% of respondents viewed Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar as the most important markets, while only 5% cited Dubai. Over half (55%t) believe the construction sector will bounce back in 2010.
