“Most expensive” hotel refurbishment to complete six months late

London’s Savoy hotel is to re-open on 10 October, around six months after the planned opening spring 2010, it has emerged. The cost of the project, around £100m, means it is thought to be the most expensive refurbishment of a London Hotel.

The building work, being carried out by contractor Chorus Group for Canadian client Fairmont hotel group, is thought to have been delayed due to the extreme complexity of the project.

The scheme’s architect is Reardon Smith.
