Nottingham-based engineer becomes part of Antipodean multidisciplinary consulting group

Opus International Consultants has acquired UK engineering consultant Joynes Pike Group.

This will increase the number of Opus offices in the UK from eight to 17, while the number of employees working for Opus in the UK will rise from 197 to 370.

The acquired firm will trade as Opus Joynes Pike and will work with the other Opus offices in the UK under the direction of Trevor Crawley, Opus' UK director, who is based in Bristol.

The Joynes Pike Group is based in Nottingham and has eight additional regional offices. The firm's managing director, John Pike, will become Opus's regional director for the Midlands.

Pike said of the acquisition: “It will strengthen our position in the UK and give us greater access to resources by way of skills and additional specialist expertise provided by Opus. I am confident this merger will also bring added value for the benefit of both our staff and our clients.”

Opus is a multidisciplinary consultant providing services in transportation, building design, water and other infrastructure. The company has 36 offices in New Zealand, 21 offices in Australia and six in Canada. It was listed on New Zealand's stock exchange last year.
