Land Engineering (Scotland) went into administration in May
Edinburgh-based Land Engineering (Scotland) owed £7.2m to trade creditors when it went into administration earlier this year, according to a document filed by the firm’s administrator EY at Companies House.
The engineer owed HMRC £868,781 and large amounts to suppliers including construction recruiter The Shore Group and fleet company TOM Vehicle Rental, the Statement of Affairs document reported.
The contractor was also facing a potential fine from the Health and Safety Executive for a safety incident.
The civil engineering contractor posted revenue of £39.9m in its last audited accounts for the year ended 31 August 2015 and made a pre-tax loss of £192,000.
The directors said at the time that Land Engineering’s core market sectors had been “affected by the wider market downturn” and that “the company suffered losses across a small number of contracts”.
