Project is part of £72m contract haul for the specialist

Steel specialist Severfield has confirmed it has won the frame contract for the City of London’s tallest tower, 22 Bishopsgate.

Severfield and its fellow project team members, including main contractor Multiplex, inked deals on the Lipton Rogers project last Tuesday, after lead investor Axa shrugged off concerns about Brexit to commit to construction.

The 62-storey tower is expected to complete in 2019.

Severfield confirmed the win this morning, saying it was part of a £72m haul of recent contract wins.

Five other contracts include an office job in the Midlands, two distribution centres in the South-east, a research complex in Manchester and an extension to a mall in London.

Ian Lawson, chief executive of Severfield, said: “We are delighted to announce these new contract wins and are excited to be working with Multiplex on such a high profile development as 22 Bishopsgate.

“This further demonstrates the breadth of the Group’s capabilities and the quality of our order book.”
