West End developer to reconfigure retail and refurbish block in Chinatown in advance of Crossrail opening

London and West End focused developer Shaftesbury has won planning to reconfigure and refurbish a block in Chinatown.

Westminster City Council granted planning permission for the reconfiguration of 32,000ft² of retail and 13,500ft² of restaurants ona block facing Newport Place and Charing Cross Road.

The reconfiguration will provide a contiguous retail frontage to Charing Cross Road and enhance the pedestrian route into Chinatown, which is expected to see even greater in footfall when Crossrail opens in late 2018.

The Group expects to commence works early in 2016, with completion in mid-2017.
