Five firms and joint ventures have made the shortlist

Crossrail today released details of those firms to have been shortlisted for the £250m job.

Those firms invited to tender include:

  • Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall and Vinci JV
  • BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Agroman and Kier Construction
  • Carillion Construction
  • Costain Skanska JV
  • Laing O’Rourke and Strabag JV

The station will take the form of an underground box measuring 260m long, 25m wide and 23m deep, and will be located directly under Departures Road and Eastbourne Terrace. Its construction will generate 160,000m of excavation, 80,000m³ of concrete and 15,000 tonnes of reinforcement.

Work is due to start in October 2011 and be completed by early 2017.
