Winning candidate will be tasked with building a team that delivers a truly sustainable London Olympics

The search for a chair to lead a team ensuring that the 2012 Olympics are truly sustainable is on and is being led by Kan Livingstone and Tessa Jowell.

The Mayor of London and the Olympics minister are looking for someone to head up the team which has been established by the London Sustainable Development Commission. This is the first time that any Olympic Games has had an independent body in place to oversee and monitor sustainable development.

The search for a chair kicked off with an advert being placed in The Guardian.

Mayor of London Ken Livingstone said: “If we are to keep our promise to stage the best games ever, they must also be genuinely sustainable. We are looking for an exceptional candidate with the skills and experience who shares our commitment for a sustainable 2012 Games and the ability to build the team with the right match of skills and expertise for the huge task that lies ahead.”
