Lipton Rogers, Sport England and Quintain latest to sign up

Three new clients have joined trade body Build UK - Lipton Rogers, Sport England and Quintain.

The organisation - which primarily represents thousands of tier one and specialist contractors - has been signing up a steady stream of clients in recent months.

The trio join Almacantar, Argent and Great Portland Estates as some of the first developers to join.

Lipton Rogers was founded by big name developers Sir Stuart Lipton and Peter Rogers, and is behind plans for the major 22 Bishopsgate tower project (pictured) in the City of London.

Rogers said: “Build UK’s enthusiasm and drive to change the industry is infectious and I believe that they are the organisation with the ability to generate real and necessary change in the industry.”

Sport England invests government and National Lottery funding in organisations and projects that help people be more physically active, including building community sport and leisure facilities.

Charles Johnston, Sport England’s property director, said: “As a significant funder of contraction projects, it’s vital that we have certainty from our contractors. That’s why we’re engaging with the industry through Build UK. We want to build relationships so that we can get the very best outcomes for people when they play and enjoy sport.”

Quintain is a London-focused development and investment company delivering the Wembley Park regeneration scheme. Its executive director of construction Matt Voyce said: “When undertaking a project as significant as Wembley Park, it is essential to be engaged with key industry issues. Working with Build UK will provide us with valuable insight into construction markets and also allow us to lead by example in continuing to improve practices.”

Build UK chief executive Suzannah Nichol said: “Our second year is off to a flying start with the announcement of our first six client partnerships, the launch of Open Doors 2017 and our facilitation of the Skills Hack at the Construction News Summit.

“Build UK broke new ground when we brought the contracting supply chain together; today we are changing the face of the industry by bringing clients, main contractors and specialist contractors around the table for the first time as we continue to pioneer change.”
