Welder killed after being hit by swinging boom and falling 8m

A crane accident has resulted in the death of another construction worker in America.

The crane, which was on the site of a new school on 53rd Street in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was supported by four outriggers but became unstable on Monday while working.

A swinging boom hit a 51-year-old welder after the two front outriggers sank into soft ground.

The welder had been carrying out hot metal work on a wall. He fell 8m to the ground, and died from injuries sustained in the incident.
