Construction's internet pioneers meet face to face at the third Be2Camp 'unconference'

The industry's Twitter community met in Birmingham last week to exchange ideas and opinions on the latest web innovations.

The Be2Camp social media event attracted around 100 web enthusiasts from the construction and IT industries.

Presenters discussed a broad range of online topics including virtual environments, social media, open source mapping and podcasts.

Well known Twitter personalities Paul Wilkinson and Rob Annable gave presentations on the use of social media and virtual environments.

While real-life examples of construction IT were provided by Claire Hardwick of Family Housing Association and Dave Glennon of Bovis Lend Lease, who discussed how the contractor encouraged workers to exchange knowledge over their intranet.

The next Be2camp unconference event in London will be run over two days at London's Olympia exhibition halls on 7-8 October 2009. The @WorkingBuildings unconference is being held in parallel with UBM's three WorkingBuildings shows.
