Contractor emerges as preferred bidder for phase two of Birmingham City University’s city centre campus scheme

Willmott Dixon has been lined up for the £60m second phase of Birmingham City University’s city centre campus scheme.

Building understands the contractor has been selected as preferred bidder for the project, part of the university’s £180m expansion plan, having fought of competition from Balfour Beatty, Vinci, Sir Robert McAlpine and Galliford Try.

The Associated Architect-designed scheme will house the university’s business school, plus education, law and social sciences departments.

Willmott Dixon also won the £61m contract to build the first phase of Birmingham City University’s City Centre Campus plan, which involved a18,310m2 home for the university’s Institute of Art and Design.
