United Utilities begins installing 12,000 panels on a reservoir in Greater Manchester

Work has started on installing Europe’s largest floating solar farm, on a reservoir in Greater Manchester.

United Utilities has begun placing 12,000 panels on Godley Reservoir in Hyde, which once complete later this year will provide a local water treatment works with about 33% of its energy.

The firm has a target to generate 35% of its in-house power needs via renewable sources.
