It’s understood victim was subcontractor for Costain/Galliford Try JV

A construction worker has been killed on the M1 smart motorway site near Northampton, it has been confirmed.

It is understood the victim was working for a subcontractor for the Costain/Galliford Try joint venture on the £65m project, which will boost capacity along the M1 between junctions 16 and 19.

A spokesperson for the Costain/Galliford Try JV said: “We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”

The spokesperson added that an investigation into the incident is now underway.
