WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff has appointed Derek Pitcher as its global director for advisory services.

Pitcher (pictured) joins the professional services firm after spending 35 years at Sweett Group, latterly as its managing director for Europe.

The appointment is the latest in a series of high-profile changes at WSP in recent months, including March’s promotion of Alexandre L’Heureux to the role of global chief executive officer and president.

The firm said Pitcher would be based in London and support the business’ continued growth in programme management, project management, and cost consultancy services.

Global director for property and buildings Tom Smith said the business had a growing global project advisory services business with over 1,200 staff supporting clients such as Amazon, CPPIB, ManuLife, HSBC, Airbus and BMW.

He said: “Derek’s appointment is an exciting development as it reflects our ambition to further develop our trusted advisor role.

“Derek will be working closely with the global executive leadership team to grow our expertise in this sector.”

Pitcher is honorary treasurer of the British Council of Shopping Centres and also a member of the RICS commercial property market forum, RICS infrastructure panel and the UK Green Building Council leaders network.
