Germany's claim of 20.1% of electricity from renewables has to be looked at very carefully.
(1) Germany imports some renewable from Austrian hydro electric sources but these lakes are refilled overnight/off peak by electricity from french nuclear power stations.
(2) Germany now imports electricity from old soviet designed nuclear power stations in eastern europe.
(3) The German state subsidizes electricity consumption for its own industry.
(4) Germany has had so many problems with its (as yet non existent) 'far out to sea' wind generation programme (particularly inverter platforms to convert AC to DC) that it is urgently bringing in a programme to 'frac' gas within its german boundaries for power generation so that its industrial might can be maintained.

I would question if renewable energy is really the answer to any of our problems, that is unless we are prepared to consume a great less electricity than we do now!
